cheqd Network
About
cheqd is a decentralized trust infrastructure designed for digital identity and verifiable credentials. Built on the Cosmos SDK, the network enables organizations and individuals to create, manage, and exchange trusted digital credentials while preserving privacy and interoperability. The network is secured by a decentralized validator set and governed by CHEQ token holders through on-chain governance.
Staking
How Staking Works
CHEQ holders can delegate their tokens to a validator to help secure the cheqd Network and participate in consensus. Delegators earn a share of the staking rewards generated by their selected validator while maintaining ownership of their tokens.
Unbonding Period
The cheqd Network has a 21-day unbonding period. During this time, unstaked CHEQ cannot be transferred, redelegated, or earn staking rewards.
Reward Mechanism
Validators receive rewards for validating transactions and participating in network consensus. These rewards are distributed to delegators after the validator's commission fee is deducted. Rewards accrue continuously and can be claimed or restaked over time.
Slashing Risks
Delegated CHEQ may be subject to slashing if a validator violates network rules.
| Violation | Penalty |
|---|---|
| Downtime | Small slashing penalty for extended offline periods |
| Double Signing | Severe penalty + validator jailed from consensus |
WARNING
Always delegate to validators with proven uptime records and HSM-protected signing infrastructure to minimize slashing risk.
Vitwit Validator
Vitwit is an active validator on cheqd Network, contributing to the security, reliability, and decentralization of the ecosystem. By delegating CHEQ to Vitwit, token holders can participate in securing the network while earning staking rewards.
